Once upon a time...
Madras is much more than just a beverage brand. Founded in 1933 by Jean Bichara-Jabour, a visionary and pioneer in the Guadeloupe beverage industry, Madras embodies a heritage rich in tradition and passion. Jean Bichara-Jabour was much more than just an entrepreneur. Trained as a chemist and biologist, he was fascinated by the art of distillation and aromas. In 1933, he opened Ets Bichabour in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, where he began producing artisanal lemonades. Quickly, his reputation grew due to the exceptional quality of his drinks.

A passionate enthusiast
In the 1930s, Jean Bichara-Jabour ventured into creating syrups, punches, and liqueurs, using family recipes and carefully selected local ingredients. His passion for botany and his expertise in distillation are evident in every Madras product, offering an explosion of unique and authentic flavors.

A great ambition
This was only the beginning of Madras's story. Soon, Jean Bichara-Jabour became a pioneer in making fruit punches and milk-based punches in Guadeloupe. He later developed expertise in rum aging. This collaboration allowed Madras to perfect its art of distillation and expand its product range to include agricole and fine aging rums.
A mark of quality
In 1984, Ets Bichabour officially became La Liquoristerie Madras, thus honoring the heritage and the commitment of the Bichara-Jabour family to quality and excellence.

A rich heritage
Today, Madras continues to uphold Jean Bichara-Jabour's heritage by producing high-quality syrups, punches, liqueurs, and rums.
